a "seat of honor" for her niece and
asked all Melissa's friends to tell what
things they liked best about her. They
all brought Melissa a small token gift
from nature; a rock, a leaf, a plant, a
flower. Next an aroma therapist
annointed Melissa with essential oils and
said "I honor the sacred feminine in
you, may you always remember and
cherish this part of you." After this
ceremony, I danced for the party.
When I finished I invited Melissa to
come and lay down on the carpet to
experience a veiling ritual of descend-
ing and ascending transformation. It
was a gentle, sweet and loving day.
