Claire
As well as dancing, Claire will be joining the Sirocco on stage playing the riq. The lovely Claire has been studying with Sirocco for many years at Delilah's past belly dance retreats. Claire appears on the new DVD with Delilah and Sirocco in two very unique dances: Bamboo an earthy belly dance prayer to protect the rain forests, and Pirates, a fun little piece where two mermaid Sirens come out of the seas and lure the two pirates to a watery fate. Claire resides in Emumclaw, Washington, where she teaches and produces belly dance shows now and then.
Dahlia Moon
Dahlia is a popular dancer on the Seattle scene. She may be found dancing at Kolbeh's Persian restaurant in Seattle, and hosts a monthly weeknight event there called The Belly Dance Ball. Dahlia teaches Egyptian style belly Dance to VDP Studios on Wednesday Nights. She will hold a workshop on New Years day Introduction on her philosophy and techniques of Modern Egyptian style belly dance. For all levels interested.
Laura Rose
Laura has been vicariously participating in belly dance since before she was born in utero. As soon as she could stand, she whirled around the living room with circle belly dance skirts. All the little girls in the neighborhood loved Laura Rose's costume closet. Laura has always had a flair for drama, costuming and a dynamic performance.
Growing up, Laura Rose witnessed some amazing events and hung with legends in both the belly dance and music worlds. Her early participation could not be more natural. Delilah, Laura Rose and her younger sister, Victoria, would take costumes and musical
instruments on camping trips and dance in the Hoh Rainforest, or on the Beach in Maui. The girls both participated in dance performances when they were small- on stages with the Tanavar Dance ensemble, as extras, on retreats, and in parades. Laura Rose has experienced this dance as a dancer, but also through the eye of the camera. She graduated from The Evergreen Sate College with a bachelor of Arts in Film and Video. She has been designing and authoring DVDs for Visionary Belly Dance Productions for the past four years.
Laura Rose not only authored the new version of Delilah and Sirocco Live and Wild but she also shot edited and produced the very moving documentary 'Embracing Aphrodite'. She also appears as the lead in the Ritual Grounding and Centering exercise at age 11.
She has performed with Sirocco on the 40 Days and 40 Nights East Coast Tour in 2003, in Seattle, Hawaii and in Japan last year.
Delilah
The original Visionary Dancer. Born in Seattle, Washington. What were the odds she would grow to be a award winning, world-wide pioneer in the art belly dance for over 30 years now? Committed to teaching belly dancing to women, as a means of empowered self-expression by fostering positive relationship with body image. Delilah lives in Fremont, and leads her dancers in the Fremont Parade each year. She travels, performs, lectures and teaches workshops and retreats all over the world. She is the talent in front of the camera as well as the co-producer of over a dozen performance and instructional videos by Visionary Dance Productions. She is dancer Seattle should well be proud of and you should not miss the opportunity to see her dance live and Wild with Sirocco!

Sirocco
Sirocco is the duo Sulyman el Coyote and Armando Mafufo. Based in Santa Cruz California, Sirocco has enjoyed playing Middle Eastern music for belly-dancers across the United States, Canada and Hawaii since 1971. Their specialty is improvisation within the genre using traditional instruments.
Sirocco has loyal fans who enjoy their ability to create an electrifying atmosphere that ignites audiences and belly-dancers alike.
Sulyman el Coyote is accomplished on several instruments and is a powerful vocalist. He plays masterful oud, diabolical violin, and is ethereal on the ney. What can we say about his expertise on saz, kanoon, mizmar, arghool, clarinet, and Flamenco guitar. He also handcrafts and sells the very best tuned zills and creates very unique silver jewelry.
Armando Mafufo, (Uncle Mafufo) is a melodic doumbek player. He is a master of shading and textures on the drum. He enjoys playing the traditional instruments like nakara, tabl beledi, and an assortment of Middle Eastern frame drums. Armando plays tabl beledi (the big drum) for a powerful tribal style performance with Sulyman on the mizmar. Uncle Mafufo has produced four CDs of his solo compositions in addition to his very popular series of Middle Eastern Rhythms/Technique videos for learning Doumbek, Riq and Def and a CD of 25 Essential Rhythms for every drummer/dancer.
Sulyman El Coyote
Solomon Feldthouse (Sulyman "El Coyote") is a master musician and multi-instrumentalist of Middle Eastern, Flamenco, and Gypsy Folk idioms. A consummate performer, Sulyman plays Oud, Saz, Violin and Flamenco Guitar with equal portions of restraint and abandon. He is also accomplished on the Middle Eastern wind instruments Ney and Zurna. He is also a jeweler and metalsmith.
Born in the U.S. he moved to Turkey with his family when he was ten years old. There he began to play the Turkish saz, oud, and Flamenco guitar . He traveled to Spain as a teenager where he studied flamenco guitar and was introduced to the flamenco way of life. He spent the early 60s singing and playing in folk clubs throughout Europe. When he returned to the U.S. he co-founded the rock-fusion group called Kaleidoscope with David Lindley. Pioneers in the mixing of Western rock music with traditional Eastern instruments and melody, Kaleidoscope is now widely seen as the first world music rock band. They recorded five albums and a soundtrack for Walt Disney studios.
In the early 70s he started handcrafting jewelry and metalsmithing at the Renaissance Pleasure Faires throughout California. His unique jewelry designs were honored with the best in show award and during this time he also performed at the faires with Jamila's Bal Anat bellydance troupe and Los Flamencos. In 1972 he and Armando co-founded Sirocco a middle eastern group dedicated to playing live music for dancers. They have performed throughout North America for the past 27 years and have recorded four tapes and CDs. In 1976 Solomon made his first set of finger cymbals from a pair of telephone bells. Over the next few years he experimented with the sound quality of different brass alloys until he found one that would not only complement his music but also play in tune. Solomon lives in California where he handcrafts zills and designs and crafts jewelry. He also continues to perform and record with Sirocco and as a flamenco artist. In addition, he works as a session musician and is a member of the Lian Ensemble, performers of original Persian and flamenco music.
Uncle Mafufo
Armando Mafufo is a drummer to the core. Starting at age 14, sneaking into Chicago jazz clubs, playing 3-day BeBop sessions with hardcore musicians, later discovering hand drums, congas, bongos, and timbal in the early 60s, then into experimental music, world drums and finally Middle Eastern drums and percussion in 1970. Since then, Armando has dedicated more than 30 years to performing the music of the Mediterranean and North African peoples. He has toured the United States, Mexico and Canada, produced four celebrated albums of his own music, and instructional CDs and videos on the playing of Arabic percussion instruments. An exciting and innovative powerhouse player, Armando, as Uncle Mafufo, is also a respected teacher of Middle Eastern percussion, his unique style of communicating rhythm counts and nuances has made him a treasured instructor from coast to coast and beyond.
As lead percussionist in the band Sirocco, Armando is a melodic doumbek player and master of shading and textures on the Arabic drum. Sirocco has been Delilah's favored band since their initial collaboration in 1991 and is featured on her videos. Besides Sirocco, Armando also plays with musical groups Nuba (Tunisian music), Orient'al (Egyptian), Trova Tropical (Puerto Rican and Cuban), The Juan Sanchez Ensemble (popular Spanish), and is currently exploring Persian and Afgani music with friends in Santa Cruz, CA.
