Weight Belts
If you do not have a weight belt we have plenty for sale here. If you want to give it a try before you buy one, or you accidentally leave yours at home, we have a limited amount to rent for $5 per class (keep in mind they are heavy so we cannot provide each student with one. First come first serve.

The Class History
The summer of 2003 the first Power Belly Course was offered for 4 weeks before Delilah went on her 40 Days and 40 Nights East Coast Tour. Dancers loved it with or without weight belts, but for those who used weight belts, the results were amazing! We saw waistlines manifest. Dancers lost weight, inches, and got incredibly strong. So, we are going to do it again. Now we are proud to announce that the Power Belly Class is one of our most popular classes we offer. Jeannette, who attends both Tuesday and Thursday class gets the award for 'Most Enthusiastic'! She told me the other day that she has not missed one class since that summer in 2003!
When we opened VDP Studio in 2004 we added the element of live music by Erik Brown: percussion, bass, cumbus, samples and found sounds as accompaniment to our courses. The live element gives us an added dimension to the total feeling of involvement in the dance. This is also the goal of Power Belly–– to move from the gut! We strive to engage the dancer emotionally through the discovery of the power in her belly!
What is Power Belly?
A belly dance class with either weight belts and/or isometric and isotonic intentions. Developing healthy endurance and stamina is essential part of persuing the art of bellydance.
What are the goals?
To get sweaty and increase heart rate, blood flow and learn effortless transitions of belly dance steps and movement phases. to lift our spirits through dancing with our sisters
What are the benefits?

• We get to exercise the Aphrodite in us, and wear pretty clothes if we want!

Tuesday Power Belly 2008
Tuesday Power Belly Class series 6:15-7:15
We are moving Power Belly up 15 minutes for the winter.
Fall Session 1 (6 weeks)
Dates: Sept, 16, 23, 30,Oct 7, 14, 21
Time: 6:15pm
Cost: $85 or $75 with 5 day advance registration.
The advance price is about $12.50 per class
Drop-ins price is are $18 paid by check and $15 cash
The class is ordinarily facilitated by a instructor and a musician (sometimes more than one)
Fall Session 2 (8 weeks)
Dates: Oct , 28, Nov 4,11,18,25, Dec 2, 9, 16
Time: 6:15pm
Cost: $110 or $100 with 5 day advance registration.
The advance price is about $12.50 per class
Drop-ins price is are $18 paid by check and $15 cash
The class is ordinarily facilitated by a instructor and a musician (sometimes more than one)
By signing up in advance you are committing to be in class and getting 1-2 classes for free so really you can afford to miss one and not be losing any money. If your schedule is liable to be all over the map, then you might be better off to pay the drop in rate.
New policy:
As you know Tuesday and Thursday classes are separate classes. If you miss the class you signed up for, you cannot just come to the other class with out being signed up for it as a substitution because other dancers are signed up for that class. However if you are officially registered and there is room in the other class, and you missed your class you may drop in for $5 instead of the usual drop-in rate of $18 check and $15 cash. Hope this is clear.
