Neighborhood Temple Priestess Tuesday class series (6 weeks)

In this class we will peruse belly dance as healing dance.
Pre requisite: Must have a working vocabulary of belly dance.

This class is not a tutorial in belly dance techniques but in extensions of belly dance application. The goal is to teach and cultivate a different focus for belly dance other than stage exhibition. The focus is to demonstrate to the community at large that belly dance is a positive tool for encouraging women’s healthy self esteem and can go even further than imagined as a tool in facilitating community health and well being. Respect for the body, women, the earth, the seasons and cycles of life, personal growth, lose, gain and celebration.
My favorite quote, “Rather than eye candy the dancers offer soul candy.”

Each nights class will work on subjects from this list.
Belly-Talk, Ritual Warm-Up, Prayer to Ishtar, Veil therapy, Wedding shower, Baby Shower, Grounding and centering, Sunshine Walk, Journey to meet the Goddess, Imaginary Belly Dance Instructor, Goddesses on Parade, Dancing in Nature, Seasonal Celebration, Birthdays, Alters and bulletin boards, Veil Origami, Veil Runs, Rites of Passage, Decent of Innana, Embracing Aphrodite, Shadow Dance, Poetry and Dance, Sufi Turn Practice, Symbols and Archetypes.
